How to Build Push-On Hose Ends
Sounds simple enough, but doing this wrong can cause all number of issues down the road. Follow the steps below to ensure that you will have a solid, leak-proof connection for years to come.
Step One
Cut the hose evenly to the necessary length with a sharp knife. Put the fitting in a small bench vise (like the one in the picture) if you have one available, and oil the inside of the hose and outside of the fitting thoroughly.
Step Two
Push the oiled hose onto the fitting until the hose bottoms out under the protective sleeve. Clean the excess oil off and pressure test to twice the operating pressure to ensure a leak-proof seal.
