Project Chevelle Episode 11: 9-inch Rearend

10/19/2018
Add Article To List

Project Chevelle went from sleepy stocker to loud, fast, unruly hot rod the second we fired the 383 for the first time. With a bulletproof Tremec transmission behind it, we were on our way to muscle car glory. All that was standing in our way was the stock 10-bolt rearend, complete with open differential and weak 3.08 gear.

In this episode, we swap in one of our own bolt-in 9-inch Ford housings, Posi-Traction third-members, and tubular control arms. We cap off our install with a disc brake kit to help us bring it all to a halt.

Be sure to check out the Project Chevelle: 9-inch Rearend Tech Article on The Toolbox for more details and notes on this installation.
