Brakes - 410 Sprint Car Build
Today, the team is installing the brakes! We already put in the brake line from the front to the back, so we don’t need to worry about that. Now, we need to go out to the calipers and bulkheads. We’re using a 90-degree fitting on both. Our line is 18 inches which should be long enough.
We attach the EMI Billet brake pedal. Before we install, we need to bench bleed the master cylinder. Getting all of the air bubbles out allows the breaks to work as best as possible.
Now, we’re putting 2 spacers in. One is on the pedal where it pivots on the car and the other is between the heim and the end of the pedal on the master cylinder. It helps keep the pushrod out of the master cylinder moving straight. Finally, we can bleed the breaks! Take the calipers of the car brakes in order to do this. After the fluid comes out free of air bubbles, we’re good to go.
Thanks for tuning in! Now, all we have left on the car is the mock-up block, wheels, wings, and tires!
