Wings Install - 410 Sprint Car Build
Today, on the final episode of our 410 Sprint Car Series, we are installing the nose and top wing, sideboards, and bumpers. We’re using a rivet gun to put on the sideboards. We aren’t going to rivet the wings just yet because we’re getting everything wrapped. However, we are going to drill the holes to get everything ready.
Once the nose wing is done, we’ll move onto the wing cylinder and the wing tree. The cylinder is on the frame side so that rod will move with the wing. This way, the lines won’t move.
After the wings are installed, we will put the fittings in the valve. We’re using 45’s for the top and a straight for the bottom.
Now that we have the wing cylinder on, we can get going on the top wing. The supports come first. We’re going to cleat them on because they’ll be easier to take off for wrapping. We’ll rivet them when it gets back from wrapping. The top wing posts are in so we will be able to set it on the car and make sure everything fits correctly.
Now that the car is wrapped, the bumpers are next. Finally, we can put the newly wrapped wings on and that’s it!
The car looks amazing and it's ready for its journey along the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame tour. We’ve had so much fun with this project and we hope you have too!
