Fuel System - 410 Sprint Car Build
Today, we’re working with the fuel system. We have a Saldana tank and bladder, along with the top and front plates, so we’re ready to go!
To start, we threaded the studs right into the bladder and lined everything up perfectly. Once that was installed, we worked on the front plate. When the tank was fully assembled, we lowered it into place. When working with the fuel cell bolts, a helpful hint is to put some silicone on the tip. This helps them stay exactly where you want them.
After the tank was all set, we installed the fuel pump. Ideally, the pinch bolt is at the top and pointing straight left. It should thread right into the power steering pump. Then, slide the pump in!
Next, are fuel lines! Eagle Motorsports put together a kit for us. The most important part of installing the fuel lines is that the center of the pump runs up to the shutoff valve. After that, it doesn’t matter if it runs to the main or high-speed bypass. We used a fuel line bypass pill holder. The short line comes off the manifold and then hooks up to the pump. It’s important to make sure it goes the correct way so that the fuel flows through the line, through the pill, and back into the tank. Then, we installed the highspeed bypass. We had a swivel coupler on the outlet side so it was positioned straight up and down. If we ever need to make adjustments, it’s easy to twist the knob right inside the car. Finally, we placed the shutoff lines and use zip ties to keep them from being in the way. That concludes our installation of the fuel lines.
Thanks for following along! Next time, we will be working with the brake pedal, master cylinder, and brake lines. You won’t want to miss it!
