Speedway Motors at the 2022 IMCA RaceSaver Nationals
The IMCA RaceSaver Nationals are near and dear to us at Speedway Motors for a few reasons. First, it’s held at one of our home tracks. Eagle Raceway is only a half hour drive from our Lincoln, NE headquarters. Second, open wheel racing has always been an important part of our business. And finally, several of our employees participate in the race. This year, one of our own won all the marbles. Jake Bubak works in our Racing Shock department and he’s this year’s champion.
Jake’s win was the result of a “right place, right time” return to one of his old cars. In this case, it was the 74B Coyote Candle Company car that Jake drove prior to moving to Nebraska and starting work at Speedway Motors Shocks. It’s also the car Jake won the 2020 Nationals in.
After winning the Race of Champions on Thursday and a long day of qualifying on Friday, Jake had some time on Saturday to help some other racers running Speedway Motors shocks. Jake says that having the experience of building shocks and running the shock dyno has been a “huge help” in setting up his own cars. “Knowing the internals and what it’s actually doing and affecting the car and understanding dyno sheets has really helped in last year.”
Jason Danley works in Speedway Motors Racing Engines and he also had a good weekend, finishing 6th in the A-Feature. Jason runs a Schnee chassis with an engine by Speedway Motors, of course. In all, 22 Eagle, Schnee, or Helix cars were registered for the event, with 14 cars running either Emi chassis, Speedway Motors Racing Engines, or both, making it to the Sunday’s A-Feature.
A big congratulations to Jake and Jason, their crews and families!
