The Grand National Roadster Show is one of our favorite shows of the year. There's no shortage of great cars, and the outrageous machines on hand to compete for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster and Slonaker awards send it over the top. Here are the AMBR and Slonaker winners, as well as a gallery of other cars that caught our eye.

2023 AMBR Winner

'32 Ford. Owner and builder: Jack Chisenhall

You may recognize the name Jack Chisenhall as the man behind Vintage Air. He's no stranger to cool hot rods, and it's not surprising at all that he helped out with the build of this '32 roadster in his own shop. It's powered by a 355-inch early Hemi and features Indy roadster-inspired details throughout. We've seen plenty of more garish cars end up with the big trophy at the GNRS, and we're thrilled to see a bad, black, traditional roadster at the top of the heap this year.

Other AMBR Contenders

'29 Ford Model A. Owner and builder: JF Launier
'36 Ford. Owner and builder: Danny Hyde
'32 Ford. Owner: Sandie & Charlie Chadd. Builder: Rad Rides by Troy
'32 Ford. Owner: Ken Sapper. Builder: Dominator Motorsports
'32 Ford. Owner: Joe Kugel. Builder: Kugel Komponents
'32 Ford. Owner: Scott Williams. Builder: Swillco Speedshop

Slonaker Winner

The CAL Automotive Creations Invicta.

Many congratulations to our hometown heroes (okay, home state) Andy Leach and the crew at CAL Automotive Creations for winning the Slonaker Memorial Award with their outrageous X-60 Invicta Custom built for customers George and Angela Eliacostas. It was built with a GM concept car flavor, and the display drove the concept home. It's powered by a wild Nailhead with a crank-driven blower that was just on our dyno not that long ago. It's an amazing car and we're thrilled for Andy and Co.

While not immediately clear from a distance, that's a real Nailhead with a crank driven blower (!) out front. The snout up front hides the intercooler.
More of the GM "Dream Car" vibe inside.

Suede Palace

'32 Ford 3-window
The "Omaha Coupe" made it all the way from Nebraska.
The one and only "Purple People Eater."
Mucho flamed Ford custom.
'34 Ford Coupe. Dig the Wayne-headed 6 under the lexan.

More From Around the Show

Coby Gewertz and South City Rod & Custom shocked everyone with an outrageous paint job on an already outrageous '34. We loved it.
Scallop city.
Belly tank
Cool Gas Roadster
Dig the canted quad headlights.
The Museum of American Speed was there.
