Built With Speedway Motors: Peyton's 1931 Model A
We always love featuring our customer's projects using their own words to tell the story. In this case, the story is being told by an owner not yet old enough to legally drive her own car! Check out the cool story of Peyton's father/daughter Model A project...
“I told my dad we should get a project car and he asked if I wanted to do a hot rod. I said yes because they are super cool! We got a 1931 Model A Coupe that was a mess, but it’s much better now.
Of course, it has Speedway Motors parts on it! When we got the car, it ran pretty well, but that is about all it did well. It was a terrible rat rod mess. We fixed bad welds, changed the grille, built a radiator support, did some front suspension work, and changed wheels and tires. We added interior pieces, redid the wiring, did a tune up, fixed the brakes, and serviced the transmission.
It was built quite a few years ago, my dad took it on a partial trade on a 1937 Ford Sedan. It was terrible when we got it; 3 flat tires, a horrible grille, and welds were left raw and chunky.
I am 13 and we’ve have had old cars since before I was born. We have had a lot of them, I am not even sure how many anymore. I have experienced so many good people supporting me on what my dad and I are doing. I don't know that I can pick a favorite memory, but I love working with my dad in the shop, learning things together, and trying our best to have fun.
We are featuring all of our work on our YouTube channel; Honest Peyton's Speed Shop. We started the channel when one of my dad's friends suggested it. We didn't think anyone would watch, but they actually do! We just started building a T.R.O.G. style race car. It’s based on a 1931 frame that can be driven and we’re using either a 29 Sport Coupe or 29 Roadster body.”
