Built With Speedway Motors: Jeff's 1939 International Woody
When was the last time you saw a '39 International Woody? We're not sure if we've ever seen one, and we're grateful to Jeff for sharing his cool hot rod with us. This one has a really cool family history, too...
This car belonged to my dad in the late 80's. I helped him the best I could as a kid at the time. My dad made it a street rod and owned it for a few years before selling it to a friend of his that sadly only had it a year before he passed from cancer. I have been trying to locate and purchase the car back for 15 years. She has been to Tennessee, Canada, and Washington state. Now she is back home and I'm happy to say my dad is still living and we have been working on and enjoying her since November of 2022.
The car features a Camaro subframe, Camaro rear end, salt flat wheels, and an aluminum headed 383 SBC stroker.
It was originally a tour guide car for the snow birds to fish out of Lake Apopka here in our home town. The car was purchased originally here in Florida and I have the paperwork from IH here in downtown Orlando. It was all original when dad purchased it and two years later he made it a street rod. I purchased it from a gentleman in Washington state that I pestered for two years to get it back. I had searched the internet, ebay, etc. every week for years. Since getting back in November of 2022, the car has received a new engine, some patina paint work, new wiring, and wheels and tires.
My dad is 82 and I'm 44, I have had a passion for street rods since a toddler. I love street rods and have three in total. I enjoy learning and building and I strive to be half the builder my father is. Lots of weddings, dates, and car shows in this car. So glad to get her home. Never give up hope, dreams do come true! Mine certainly did. And the car arrived Thanksgiving morning!
