SEMA 2021: Our Favorite Cars from Day 1

Tags: News, SEMA

SEMA always brings out the newest, best, and most original ideas from across the industry. It also brings out some crazy cars to show off the innovation. Here are a few that caught our eye in the first day of walking around the show.

Joe Rogan's Pure Vision Nova

The '69 Camaro fender shapes are unexpected, but work really well on a Nova.

Joe Rogan turned to Steve Strope at Pure Vision to build a Nova with some Z/28 Camaro influence. The result is this amazing, blue pearl creation that gets better the more time you spend looking at it. The car is powered by an LT4 and has clever touches all over it.

The LT4 makes around 650 horsepower.
The paint chosen for this car really pops in the daylight coming through the windows.

Project X

We will always love this car, no matter what's under the hood.

Project X is a legend. It's the longest-running magazine feature car in history. It's been in movies. It's had a million different engines in it over the years. So, when it showed up to SEMA with an electric motor, quite a few people were shocked. And, it seems like everyone has an opinion. We love this car because of what it's meant to our industry over the years. Regardless of where you stand on the whole EV power issue, it's still great to see this car in the spotlight once again with yet another in a long line of powerplant swaps.

This engine compartment has held a lot of different powerplants. None of them have looked quite like this.
Project X still looks like the iconic car we all know and love.

'65 Chevelle

There are subtle mods all over this Chevelle.

Mike Goldman Customs turned a rusted out mess of a '65 Chevelle into a Great 8 contender. It takes something pretty special to stand out in the crowd SEMA, and this car stopped us in our tracks. The subtle body mods and flawless execution make for a Chevelle like no other. It's powered by a 900-horse supercharged LS7 that features some unique and unexpected detailing.

The engine detailing is spot on, and there's plenty of power on tap from the blown LS.
We dig the vintage vibe of the mags and redlines on the otherwise revolutionary Chevelle.

The Hoonigan Camaro

With 1004 horsepower on tap, we're sure this car is a hoot to drive.

A red, built to the hilt Third-Gen F-body is always going to be cool in our book, especially to those of us that grew up in the 80's and 90's. But, adding the monstrous new GM 632 big block to one makes for an outrageous combination. Of all the cars at SEMA, this may be the one that we would most like to be thrown the keys to.

GM's 632 makes 1004 horsepower and 876 ft-lbs of torque.

Kindig Corvette Concept

This Corvette concept from Kindig-It pays tribute to the original design without going to far.

'53 Corvettes are beautiful cars, and it's hard to improve on the first version of America's sports car. So, if you're going to mess with that iconic shape, you'd better know what you're doing. Dave Kindig and his crew obviously know what they're doing, and the '53 Corvette Concept that they debuted at this year's show is an absolute knockout.

The stack injected LS engine in the '53 Corvette.
The subtle interior is a perfect match to the aesthetic of the rest of the car.
The raised wheel arches are the most noticeable feature, but there a subtle mods all over this car.

We'll be bringing you updates and highlights all week. Stay tuned!
