Speedway Tech Talk - "Speedy" Bill Shotgun Scoop

3/23/2017
Add Article To List

Speedway Motors employee Pat O takes a moment to talk about the “Speedy” Bill shotgun scoop that’s available at Speedway Motors.

If you’re looking for a little more eye candy under the hood of your hotrod, then Speedway Motors has just the scoop for you. Give your car that old school dragster look as you crack the throttle, exposing those 2 big butterflies!

This aluminum scoop can work on a single or dual four barrel carb setup. The scoop does allow a 6” min. to 12” max center on center carburetor measurement, allowing a variety of tall intakes to be used. A tunnel ram style intake manifold is suggested, as it allows the scoop to clear most distributors.

This assembly is large so you will need plenty of room under the hood or better yet, no hood at all! In the video Pat goes over dimensions and shows the scoop mounted on an engine.

The shotgun scoop kit is made up of a few pieces; the scoop, 2 paper air cleaners, and the 2 bases. Speedway Motors also offers a washable air filter to replace the paper style air filter that comes in the kit. Also sold separately is the linkage kit to connect the butterflies on the scoop to your carbs.

This scoop is sold in both a plain cast version and the polished version that Pat displays in the video.

Speedway Motors is home of the “Speedy” Bill shotgun scoop.
