Add Article To List

We believe that you shouldn’t cheap out on safety, whether it’s quality parts on the racecar, a quality helmet on your head, or a good racing suit. It all adds up to keep you protected in case the worst happens. But we also know that racing is expensive, so we’re making it easy to protect yourself without blowing your budget. Here are a few new driving suits and shoes that are designed with premium features, but at a price that everyone can afford.

Speedway Motors Shiny Suits

Here is a great entry-level suit at a great price with some excellent features. We call these “shiny” suits because the PROBAN treated flame retardant cotton material is just that; it features a shiny finish that makes them much easier to keep clean than traditional cotton suits. They’re SFI 3.2A/1 rated with a certificate sewn in to prove it to the track officials. Most single layer suits have a TPP (Thermal Protective Performance) rating of 6, but these offer extra protection with a TPP of 10. That adds valuable time in case of a fire. You can also double your TPP by adding fire resistant underwear and socks. There’s more to learn about SFI and TPP ratings in this guide.

In addition to the fire protection, these suits offer other premium features that you won’t usually find at this price. The collar has an innovative banded design that keeps the hook and loop out of your throat. The arms feature floating inner sleeve gussets that allow 360-degree movement, making it easier and more comfortable to drive while strapped in.

Speedway Formula Suits

When you’re ready to graduate to the next level of performance, Speedway Motors’ new Speedway Formula SFI 3.2A/5 1-Piece Racing Suits offer better protection and premium features. This is a double-layer, one-piece suit that is rated SFI 3.2A/5. With a TPP rating of 24, that means a minimum of 12 seconds of driver protection from 2nd degree burns. They’re made of Nomex rather than treated cotton, which means they can be washed infinitely without compromising the fire protection. They feature the same arm gussets that allow 360-degree arm movement as well as double reinforced epaulets that make it easy for the safety crew in case a driver extraction is necessary.

Speedway Motors Viper Mid-Top Racing Shoes

Don’t forget the shoes! These Viper Shoes are our only mid-top design and are made from leather and fire-retardant cotton and carry and SFI 3.3/5 rating. The soles are a soft compound that offers maximum pedal feel and feedback. They’re also great looking, with the Speedway Motors logo prominent on the side and are available in adult sizes 6-14.
