How to Assemble Speedway Motors Aluminum Hot Rod Bomber Seat DIY Kit
During the post-WW2 hot rod boom, military surplus parts were plentiful and many of them found their way into the hot rods that were being built across the country. One such part is the now iconic aluminum aircraft seat.
Since extra parts for B-17's and P-51's aren't as easy to find as they were in 1948, Speedway Motors has introduced a DIY kit to assemble your own authentic "bomber seat". This kit is made right here in our shop and features laser cut and bent pieces with neat, belled holes already in them. We include a couple boxes of rivets for you to use when you assemble these seats at home.
In this video, we'll show the process as well as a few tools that we offer to make the job easier.
