The Day We Partied

From the beginning the goal was to have our beautiful, wonderful, blood, sweat and tears project done by the Goodguys Day at the Hay show in Lincoln.

And we made it.

There may have been a few late nights in the shop the week of – pizza deliveries, short nights of sleep and plenty of stress – but that’s typical right? What can we say, we REALLY wanted the full experience.

And then the party came. And we proudly drove our car out, parked it for all to see and stared at it in disbelief. We held each piece of that car in our hands – and now – it was a working, moving, DRIVE ABLE car.

Hearing the engine? That was a big deal. Seeing the fenders go on? That was huge. But driving it? Getting in, turning it on, backing it out of the shop, driving down the street with other cars surrounding you, passengers smiling and waving?

That feeling? That feeling is incredible. Pride. Plain and simple. I get it car friends. I really get it. That bucket is my first child. Thank you to Goodguys for the motivation and for throwing a heck of a party. Thank you to our friends who liked our silly statuses, read our blogs (even when you didn’t understand them) and supported us throughout the whole process.

Thank you to our families for letting us miss dinner. A couple of times. But most importantly, thank you to the team at Speedway Motors. Without the phone calls for help, the advice, the manual, the catalog full of missing parts we needed – this would never have happened. Thanks to our bosses for the time, thank you to the techs for the advice, thanks to our friends at the counter who ran parts, thanks to the maintenance team for loaning us tools… and then more tools, thanks for the merchants and engineering teams for making the parts possible and thanks to our co-workers for putting up with us the entire time.

And now it’s time, time for the unveiling of all the photos. May we introduce – The Bucket Beauties T Bucket!

Sure, piece by piece things may be swapped out, improved, changed – but we hear that’s typical. And boy oh boy it feels nice to be so normal. Thank you dear readers, for being with us for the journey of it all. It wouldn’t have been nearly as fun without you. And don’t worry – we’ll be back to tell you about our updates. Our big trip to NSRA. And what the next project looks like. You didn’t think you could get rid of us that easily did you? Ha! Until then, #bucketbetty
