Tech Talk: Racing Shocks - Keeping Shocks Clean

Right from his own shop, Kyle Vanover gives tips on how to keep your shocks as clean as possible.

Although the entire shock will need attention after a muddy race, the shaft is something that requires some extra attention. Mud can get jammed into the seals and cause damage, leading to an oil leak. One product that can help keep shocks clean during a race is a shock bag. Install it before a race and it will protect the shock from dirt and mud.

Another way to protect shocks from mud during a race is to use a shock guard. This will keep dirt and debris from getting into the shaft. An added bonus is that it can help with rock dents.

If you have any more questions about how to keep shocks in tip-top shape, feel free to give us a call! Make sure to check with your track for specific rules and regulations. Thanks for watching.
