Levrack Storage Solutions at Speedway Motors

Let’s face it. As gearheads, we also tend to be pack rats. We hold on to things that we think just maybe we might use someday. We have boxes full of tiny lengths of hose, random pieces of rubber, chunks of steel tubing. You name it. We hate throwing things away. This stuff combined with the actual tools, fluids, and parts that we use on the regular tends to consume a lot of space in the shop. It seems like we can never have enough shelf space. Well, Levrack has a solution.

What is a Levrack?

These Levrack storage systems are amazing. You can watch us install one in our shop at Speedway Motors in the video above. What is it? They call it a “mobile aisle system,” and it’s a clever way to maximize space in the shop or really anywhere that you need a bunch of extra storage. The shelves each hold 200 pounds, and each section will hold up to 800 pounds. Not to mention the grid overhead with even more capacity. These are high quality, made in the USA systems that are designed to be put to work. They won’t fold up the first time you put that intake manifold or tub full of nuts and bolts on the shelf. The shelves are suspended by overhead casters. They roll smoothly, even if the floor underneath is uneven or covered in floor dry. On top of it all, each unit is equipped with overhead LED lighting that is triggered by a motion sensor. Walk in or slide a shelf and the light turns on automatically, then shuts itself off after 15 minutes.

Before we put it together, we laid out all the shelves in our Levrack to show just how much space we're really gaining, and it's a lot.
The overhead casters are high quality, made in the USA parts that roll smoothly, even with lots of weight on them.

These are available from Speedway Motors in a variety of sizes to fit just about anywhere. Our 12-foot unit has literally consumed all of the random bins, boxes, and shelves full of gear oil and antifreeze that we had scattered around our shop. The result is a neat, professional space that allows us to spend more time working and less time searching for (and falling over) all of our stuff. We can’t say enough about these things.

The completed system looks great in the shop and has consumed all of the random junk that we had laying around.

We also picked up one of Levrack's Mobile Work Stations. These are constructed from the same heavy duty pallet racking material as the Levrack shelving, but are topped with a heavy sheet of steel and perched on heavy casters to move around the shop where they're needed. We plan to put ours to the test, but it seems to be virtually indestructible. And like the Levrack storage systems, they're available in a variety of sizes to fit your space.

Our Levrack Mobile Work Station is almost too nice to use, but we'll put it to work once the newness has worn off!
