Charlie's 1939 Ford Pickup Hotrod: Built With Speedway Motors
As a family-owned business, we especially love hearing stories of generations of hot rodders and families building together. Charlie Cook shared his story with us about building his unique 1939 Ford Pickup Hotrod, and many other builds, alongside his dad and brother. Here's the story of his '39 coming together in his own words.
I am a younger generation hot rodder who was lucky enough to have a dad that has supported and shared his knowledge with both my brother and I. My brother operates Meticulous Metalworks out of the shop specializing in custom aluminum fabrication. I am a 20 yr. Pinstriper and sign artist operating out of the bay next door. We all enjoy building projects that are a little unique. Typically stray away from the typical popular vehicles and drivetrains.
I have owned my 455 Buick powered 39 Ford for over 15 years. I have driven it throughout the NW and consider it a real classic style hot rod.
It started as a basket case of parts left over from a restoration. The bed was a pickup box trailer neglected to garbage duty in the neighborhood. Originally intended as a rat rod it has consistently been modified and changed as my skill set improves.
I can proudly say I have done every part of it from building the chassis to the paint and even the upholstery.
Speedway Motors has been an invaluable resource through all of our projects. Your customer service and selection of products have been excellent in my situation. Even as someone who prefers to build over buy your selection of kits, pieces and fabrication parts is very valuable (MY only wish is I could walk into the store in my town LOL).
Thanks for supporting three generations of hot rodders and keeping the tradition alive. Sincerely, The Cook Family (Charlie, Charles, and Matt)
