Customer Story: Taylor M.
The smell of race fuel, the burn in your eyes from sitting in staging too long, the smell of grinding tires, the Friday Night Lights at your local dirt track, the thump of an engine, the fried food in the concession stand, the announcers going wild after the whole crowd just witnessed a slide job for the win, that feeling of tightening into your race car and closing your visor lid, the heart-pounding sensation of taking that white flag lap while leading a race, the camaraderie in the pits, the family bonds and relationships you grow and maintain... the list goes on. Those are the things that MOVE me.
Whether it be a race car, a rat rod, a street rod, a custom truck, or some sleeper car - they all get me excited and they fuel my passion. Cars and Motorsports have always been my passion. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about them, drive them, or work on them. All the moving parts, all the sleek lines, the wiring, the plumbing, the instruments—all the little things that make a car a machine get my blood going, thinking, MOVING and processing. They are such a beautiful piece of art and so many under appreciate and under estimate the true beauty of them.
I get to come home every day to a loving, supporting, and caring wife who understands and fuels my passion. I race an IMCA modified in central Iowa but cars, in general, are what move me. We both drive slightly customized vehicles every day because I simply cannot leave anything alone. I want to be different than the next guy. And she supports that. She lets me race all spring and summer long. During the week at specials and on the weekends just supporting our local tracks. She always makes sure the coolers are full and our stomachs aren't empty! I couldn't ask for a better supporter. She truly MOVES me to be better and to keep following my passion.
My parents are also a big part of MOVING me. My dad took me to my first drag race at the age of 6 weeks. My dad hasn't missed a race of mine in 10 years and he is at my shop (24' x 24') just as much if not more than I am. He more than supports me. He MOVES me. He keeps the passion alive and pushes me to always be better. He challenges me when the time is right, and he always asks questions to better us. But the biggest thing of all - he BELIEVES in me even when no one else does.
Without the love and support of my family and close friends - this passion wouldn't be my passion... it would be just a hobby. When people ask me what my hobby is—I tell them I have more than a hobby. I have a lifestyle. I can't think of a better community than the racing and car community. There is so much support and family involvement it is so surreal. Cars MOVE me. They are the fuel that keeps me going. Without them I'd be clocking in, clocking out, and not fulfilling my life.
SPEEDWAY - I'm glad to hear you started from a dream. I am living my dream of racing and having my own race car. I started at the very bottom in a 1986 Oldsmobile Calais 4 door four cylinder with the windows knocked out and a motocross helmet back in 2008. Here we are beginning 2019 with an IMCA Modified (first full season). If you would have told me 10 years ago I'd be in a modified I would have laughed. But thanks to all the support of my family and close friends we have MOVED up from the bottom. It all starts as a dream. But it's up to you to make that dream come true. I feel that I made my dream come true but not without those around me pushing me and bettering me. So thank you for this opportunity to better my little race team a little more. Thank you for the opportunity to MOVE up in the rankings and better our team financially. Thank you Speedway!
