Customer Story: Harold L.
My father in law sold me his 1968 Camaro over 15 years ago. I decided to restore it. It was difficult to find a body shop that would work on the car. It sat at shops for a couple years and none of the promised work was completed.
About a year ago I finally found a body shop that would complete the body work, and I went ahead and had the car painted. Over the years, I had parts chromed, had all of the upholstery completed and slowly ordered various parts I would eventually need. I wanted so much to reveal the car to my father in law and continued to work on it every day at least a few hours because his health was slowly failing.
About a year and a half ago he passed away. He had originally hand painted COWARD OF THE COUNTY on the back airfoil. I decided to have this repainted and in his exact script and colors in memory of him. The sign shop that repainted it said the original hand painting was very nicely done, and it was repainted exactly the way he painted it. To me, it shows how he loved and cared for the car for so many years before his health didn't allow him the ability and will to maintain it. Now, the car is only a few months away from being completed. I started with some needed parts from Speedway Motors and found that the service, the professionalism and help has assisted me very much in continuing the project.
My father in law had originally lived for years in a small community called TOK, Alaska where he drove this car and his daughter, my wife drove the car in high school in that same community. She is now 52, and it was in the 80's when she cruised around in this Camaro. I intend to take the car back to Tok, Alaska, this summer and drive it in the local parade they have every year. My father in law will always be loved and remembered.
