Speedway Motors 9300101 Details

These small block Chevy tight-fit headers are the most universal steel tube shorty headers available. They even fit difficult applications where space is limited. The block hugger headers are a favorite for street rods, as well as many 1950s and 1960s cars and vintage trucks.

  • Most tight fit header applications require the use of Accel shorty spark plugs
  • Compact design
  • Will NOT fit angle plug heads
  • Includes reducers, gaskets and bolts
  • 1-5/8" primary tubes
  • 2-1/2" collector
  • Head Flange Thickness: 0.35"

Application

  1. Can be used with most oil filter systems and transmission/starter combinations.
  2. Will not fit '55-'57 Chevy cars, Camaros, or other modern vehicles which have a crossmember below the engine's center two exhaust ports.
  3. Will not clear a "clam shell" style motor mount (found on 1973-newer Chevy cars & trucks).
  4. Will not clear angle plug heads.

For race/ off road use or for use on pre-1966 vehicles.

Emissions warning: this part only legal for sale or use in California for racing (competition) vehicles which may never be used, registered, or licensed for use upon a public highway, or if installed in vehicles model-year 1965 or older; motorcycles model-year 1977 or older; or off-highway recreational vehicles (such as off-road motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles) model-year 1996 and older. Any other use renders the vehicle tampered and not legal for use on California public highways (any public street or roadway, public dirt road, public park, or publicly maintained right of way open to the use of the public for vehicular travel). Violations subject to $37,500 penalty per violation per vehicle, revocation of registration, loss of use on California public right of ways, and proof of correction for tampering. There are similar restrictions and penalties under federal law and the laws of all other states with penalties under federal law of up to approximately $45,268 per tampered vehicle and/or engine.

Nothing else would fit....

I have a very tight fit requirement on the drivers side, These fit like a charm, giving me the clearance I needed for the steering shaft without adding the complication of an additional joint. I probably should have chosen the AKC coating, but I just was not 100% sure they would fit until I had them in hand. Once I get the motor running and burn off the paint, I may give the DIY ACK coating a try.

I regret buying this product

I researched these headers as best as possible. The info said they would fit my 57 Chevy the info was wrong they wouldn't clear the steering gear . So reluctantly I bent the tube to get the necessary clearance. Now the exhaust is pointed straight through my steering linkage . So now l get to throw them away and try to find some that lets you use a steering sector and steering linkage

I was impressed at the solid construction, thick flanges, and quality welds of the headers. You won't find headers in this price range that will last, these I believe, are the exception. The headers ended up not fitting the way I wanted them to, but I kept them anyway for a future project because of their quality and price.

I put these on my 350 in my 56 Chevy pickup. It has the original steering box and most short tube headers could never clear the steering box. With a small amount of altering, these fit perfect. The finish is high quality and I couldn't be happier.
