Speedway Motors 9300101H Details

These Armor Hot Coat® small-block Chevy tight fit headers are the most universal steel tube headers available. These performance headers fit difficult applications where space is limited. They are a favorite for street rods, as well as many 1950s and 1960s cars and vintage trucks. These ceramic coated headers provide superior performance and durability.

Tight Tuck headers are the solution to many problems associated with engine swaps in modern street rods. Tight Tucks fit in the tightest of engine compartments and clear all stock motor mounts. Most headers are manufactured from durable 16-gauge tubing and comes complete with gaskets, header bolts and collector reducers.

Application

  1. Can be used with most oil filter systems and transmission/starter combinations.
  2. Will not fit '55-'57 Chevy cars, Camaros, or other modern vehicles which have a crossmember below the engine's center two exhaust ports.
  3. Will not clear a "clam shell" style motor mount (found on 1973-newer Chevy cars & trucks).

Warranty Information

AHC Warning: AHC coatings will burn and be damaged at exhaust temperatures over 1300 degrees. A lean fuel mixture can generate exhaust temperatures exceeding 1700-1900 degrees. If the coating is damaged due to a lean condition, the coating will not be warranted, but can be recoated for a fee.

Not legal for sale or use in California on pollution controlled vehicles.

CARB Warning

For race/ off road use or for use on pre-1966 vehicles.

Emissions warning: this part only legal for sale or use in California for racing (competition) vehicles which may never be used, registered, or licensed for use upon a public highway, or if installed in vehicles model-year 1965 or older; motorcycles model-year 1977 or older; or off-highway recreational vehicles (such as off-road motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles) model-year 1996 and older. Well constructed product, as advertised, nominally priced

The choice of headers for my 1963 Chevy NOVA are somewhat limited to using the block hugger style or full-length style due to the placement of the FIREWALL MOUNTING BRACKETS (for the removable front suspension sub-assembly). HOWEVER, full-length headers hang down too low. Clipster medium length headers run into the FIREWALL MOUNTING BRACKETS. AND, even tho the block huggers fit just fine, the 90-degree sweeps connecting the headers to the exhaust system hang down too low, also. I bought the clipster medium length headers before I bought the block huggers as the online description stated they would fit the series 1 NOVAs (BUT THEY DO NOT FIT WITHOUT MODIFYING THE FIREWALL MOUNTING BRACKETS!) SO, I decided to carefully modify the FIREWALL MOUNTING BRACKETS, without weakening them, & I got them to fit just fine with the bonus of the collectors exiting nice & tidy, well above the unibody frame rail!

The plating on the headers is not great

I bought a set of these to put on a Blueprint 383, they looked good at first, I cleaned properly before running engine, when I ran engine there was a large air leak in the collector, and 2 days later they started to surface rust. When I called tech/customer support they told me I voided the warranty on the coating and welds because they are not to be used on an engine that hasn't been broken in... but when I called tech support and told them about the application they would be used on they sure as heck sold them to me!
