The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is a California agency that regulates emissions that affect air quality. CARB prohibits the advertising, sale, or use of any parts in California for 1966 or later model vehicles that modify or otherwise alter or defeat any vehicle pollution control system unless such parts are for use strictly in off road or closed circuit racing vehicles which are never used, or licensed or registered for use, on a highway.

The CARB prohibition excludes parts granted an exemption by CARB reflected in an assigned EO number. Parts that are prohibited from sale in California due to CARB restrictions are noted on Speedway’s website, as are any applicable EO numbers exempting such parts from the restriction.

In order to purchase a part that is otherwise prohibited from sale in California by CARB restrictions, you will need to certify that you are only purchasing such part for use in a pre-1966 or earlier vehicle, or that the part will be strictly for use in off road or closed circuit racing vehicles which are never used, or licensed or registered for use, on a highway. For name brand products, Speedway relies on its vendors to provide information on parts that are CARB restricted from sale in California and/or any applicable EO numbers. Speedway relies on your certification that the parts purchased for use in California will only be used in pre-1966 or earlier vehicle, or that the part will be strictly for use in off road or closed circuit racing vehicles which are never used, or licensed or registered for use, on a highway.
