Low Profile Exhaust Manifolds That Provide Great Clearance with A Classic Appearance

If you’ve spent any time at all installing tubular steel headers on a car you know what a pain in the backside they are. They often hang too low, hit your steering box, or must pass through your steering or clutch linkage, and don’t even get us started on blown out header gaskets and must constantly check and tighten header bolts. Are tubular headers worth the hassle? Many will say yes, and we will agree if the power level warrants it, or it is a custom set made for the exact chassis and engine combination (which often costs big money!). For most of us however, a good “block hugger” header will suffice. These header designs are known for being easier to install and have few drawbacks (except those often leaking header gaskets).

But even the block hugger header can look out of place in some builds, especially those early pre-war cars with open engine bays. You can give your small block Chevy the best of both worlds by using our smooth looking cast iron rams horn exhaust manifolds. These ram horn manifolds provide the same “block hugging” design while offering a period exhaust manifold look that fits right in. Not to mention the cast iron design has many benefits over the tubular steel header. Add in our high flow design with large 2-1/2-inch Corvette-style exhaust collector and it is easy to see how our Smoothie Rams Horn exhaust manifolds are hard to beat for the price, clearance, and great fit.

Fits Most Straight and Angle Plug Gen 1 Small Block Chevy Cylinder Heads

The factory cast iron SBC exhaust manifold will often have extra mounting holes/ears cast into it, either causing fitment issues or just plain ugly looking. Stock manifolds also are cast for specific chassis and engine combinations, again potentially causing fitment issues. Our Smoothie Rams Horn exhaust manifolds are designed from the start to fit most factory head castings, be they straight plug or angled plug, while providing greater flow and power production than the typical stock SBC exhaust manifold. With plenty of material around the 1-3/8-inch square exhaust flange port you can easily port match these to your heads for greater exhaust flow. The larger 2-1/2-inch Corvette style 3-bolt collector works with both flat gaskets and a 2-1/2-inch Corvette exhaust donut if you’re stock exhaust pipe flange requires them.

You can easily connect our rams horn manifolds to your existing exhaust via 2-1/2-inch 3-bolt flanges, or 2-1/2-inch to 2-inch 3-bolt reducers, depending on the diameter of your current exhaust system. This complete kit includes a pair of ramhorn manifolds, mounting hardware for the manifold and collector, exhaust flange gaskets, and collector gaskets. Everything you need to easily install your ram horn manifolds without the stress and frustration of trying to fit tubular headers. Plus, there’s no denying the ramhorn manifolds look so right on SBC powered hot rods and classic trucks. Choose from the chrome plated finish manifolds offered here, or we also offer our rams horn manifolds in silver ceramic coat, black high-temp painted, and raw cast iron versions as well.

Overall Assessment

Customers highly praise our product for its quality and practicality. It features great clearance for spark plugs and exhaust system, easy installation, and a neat look. Users noted their perfect fit in a variety of models, from 283cid to 350cid conversions on a 57 Chevrolet Bel Air. Users also highlighted their superiority over stock, particularly for the 2-1/2" outlet. However, some users pointed out the need for buying additional doughnut gasket and suggested taking care with the front bolt depths. A minor point of discontent was the finish quality, which some found lacking. Yet, they unanimously agreed the functionality was excellent, outshining this concern.

The headers are for my 283cid to 350cid conversion on a 57 Chevrolet Bel Air. Lots of spark plug and exhaust system clearance. Be careful to check the left and right front bolt depths though. I ended up using 1/4" shorter bolts, probably due to my specific heads. These look every bit as good as pictured online!

I ordered these because the ceramic was out of stock. They look nice, install easy, and leave ample room in the engine bay. They're definitely better than stock because of the 2-1/2" outlet. They, however, don't include the doughnut gasket so plan on getting those also if this is the route you're planning to take.

When these arrive and you open the box and look at the chrome finish on these manifolds you will be disappointed. I was not expecting a perfect chrome finish. I was also not expecting brush applied silver paint covering the thin areas of chrome. Gaskets were reduced to crumbles. Customer Service was very helpful.

I am looking for some exhaust manifolds for my 67 chevy c-10 stepside. I really wanted some shorty headers that looks like the ones sold for the 5.0 liter mustangs, that has the nipple on the end to use a stock doughnut gasket so far I can't find anything like that. The custom ram horns that you sell looks great but with the exhaust dumping straight down rumors say I will have clearance issues with frame, starter and oil filter. Last question,, the stock ram horns that is repo vette model, that is chrome plated I wanted to know how well the chrome held up since the cast iron gets extremely hot. Thanks for any tips or advice, pics you could send me, this is a driveable show truck and wanted it to look good and sound good

smoothie ramhorns exhaust manifolds fit in place of tight fit hugger headers I have s&s tite fit headers on sbc in a 1930 roadster and would like to know if the smoothies ram horns would fit,my problem with the tight fit headers is the sit so close to my strait hole plugs on the 202 fuelie heads they roast my plug boots in only a few miles,ii looks like the drivers side no#7 plug is the worse as if the header its self is made with a shorter exhaust port clearance which the tube is right against the no#7 plug without even the plug boot even connected, the smoothies would give me heat and casting clearance from the plug, just don't know if the ram horns length from center exhaust dump and clear the frame rail as the tite fit huggers do??
