This is a viable replacement for the 1962 stock carburetor.

This carburetor replaces a Holley 4 barrell that had been on the car for several years. The vacuum secondaries did not work since the engine vacuum is so low. The Holley had a backfire problem that did not go away regardless of rebuild, etc. After a long analysis I concluded the problem was in the Carburetor. I borrowed an earlier version of the edelbrock 1604 from a neighbor and although that carb had a leak problem, it solved the backfire problem for the engine and it performed well. So I then ordered a replacement new Edelbrock 1604. It performed very well right out of the box with just a slight idle adjustment.

WRONG PARTS SHIPPED.

your automated system keeps asking for reviews. My initial purchase was for a Edlebrock carb. some 300 bucks Tech said I needed a adapter to fit my stock chevy manifold. I also ordered that also however it looked suspiciously small so I called about it yep they told me (speedway) it would work fing. I knew better as it looked like it would obstruct the flow into the intake. Then i FIND IN THE EDELBROCK INSTRUCTIONS A PICTURE WITH A LINE THROUG THE ADAPTOR WITH A NOTE FROM eDLEBROCK STATING "DO NOT USE THIS STYLE ADAPTOR." sPEEDWAYS TECH SAYS IT IS THE CORRECT ADAPTOR TO USE BUT EDLEBROCK INSTRUCTIONS SAY NO. I call customer service and the gal completely understands the problem and sends the correct adaptor. perhaps she could spend some time with the techs to get them to understand. customer service was great technical was horrible.

Replaced the original stock carburetor on my 57 Cadillac. It was a perfect fit and was already completely tuned. After installation, turned the key and the car immediately started and ran perfectly. This is the second Edelbrock that I have bought from speedway and the second one with a perfect installation

Replaced an obvious counterfeit edelbrock carburetor. The jets had no size markings. Installed the carburetor from speedway and fired it up right away.

The description says "not recommended for use on RPM intake manifolds" but also "Match with an Edelbrock Performer or Performer EPS manifold." I have an Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, so would this carb be recommended for this intake? Is "RPM" referring to the Performer RPM intake?
