Speedway Motors 930C7H Details

These Speedway headers allow you to keep the exhaust system under your '55-'57 Chevy car. The "3/4-length" design provides more ground clearance than full-length headers, yet makes more power than "shorty" style headers. These chassis headers fit 283-400 S/B Chevy V8s and has 1-5/8" primary tubes with 2-1/2" collectors. These ceramic coated headers provide superior performance and durability.

  • Mid-length design offers maximum ground clearance
  • Designed to work with stock or 605 power steering box
  • Fits cars using an original V-8 pitman arm (some aftermarket arms may cause an interference)
  • Will work with side engine mounts with engine in stock location
  • Fits standard and Vortec-style small-block Chevy heads (not D-port, LT-1 or ZZ-4)
  • Does not work with stock clutch linkage
  • (Please use the chart below to help with dimensions.) Drivers side A dimension is 3-1/2" up by the head and 5-5/8" at the collector, B dimension is 15", and C dimension is 21".  Passenger side A dimension is 4" at the head and 6-5/8" at the collector, B is 15", and C is 21".

NOTE:  These headers do not fit angle-plug heads. They do work with a "605"steering box.  They work with most any bellhousing and most any motor mounts.  Some aftermarket starters may be in the way.  Designed to fit cars using an original V-8 pitman arm.  Some aftermarket arms may cause an interference.

The use of a shorty spark plug may aide in clearance between the plug wire and header primary tubes.

Armor Hot Coat® (AHC) is a heat resistant, ceramic coating applied to the outside of the header. This coating will reflect heat, which helps retain more heat within the header tube while simultaneously speeding up the exhaust flow. Not only will this coating help you make more horsepower, it also keeps your headers rust-free, looking great, and lasting longer (when properly maintained). If you are looking for a show-quality finish for your headers, this is it! Our AHC will withstand exhaust temperatures of up to 1300® F. Overall Assessment

The product reviewed, presumably car headers, is praised for its excellent fit, quality finish, and affordability. Customers have confirmed its practicality in vehicles, particularly in a 1955 Chevy Belair 350 and a tri-five. They applaud the quality of the build and thick flanges. Some users noticed ground clearance improvements and appreciated the hardware kit that came with the product. The ceramic coating's visual appeal is a vital focus, enhancing the car's look to a show-quality level. Users recommended the product due to their comparative advantages like fit and usability. However, a few highlighted a spark plug clearance issue, possibly indicating space for improvement. Despite this, overall satisfaction notably outshines the minor complications.

Great set Of headers!!

I bought this set with all my parts in mind, original clurch linkage, aftermarket starter custom motor mounts, you name I had it. I had to install the driver's side from under the car, remove the bell crank clutch linkage and dipstick but after they were installed, they fit!! I couldn't belive how well they fit!! These things might not flow like my other set I had but the cars on airbags and I needed everything inside the chassis. Highly recommend!!

Needs some modification

The manufacturer of this header needs to re-install it on a small block again and make corrections for spark plug clearance. It is no longer within specification. I have purchased two sets one in black and one in ceramic coated. Both have the same spark plug clearance problem. This could be corrected very easily when manufactured.

They look great, but don't fit!

They really look good but the pipes are so close to the spark plug holes you can't put the 3 and 5 plugs in. I tried these on SBC with Edlbrock aluminum performer heads in a 55 chevy 210. I actually bought the same headers 3 or 4 years ago while I accumulated parts and when I finally tried them they fit worse than the new ones.

Product had some scratches on it from shipping upon delivery, due to lack of packaging around headers. Should've bought the blemished set for sale and saved some money, but the product installed flawlessly within minutes. Fitment is precise, I will need to either dent the collector where the idler arm is mounted, or cut the ends of the idler arm mounting bolts flush at the top of the nut for clearance (speedway power steering kit for 55 bel air) For a fraction of the price of the hedman long tubes, as well as being less complicated to install, these are a good choice. Highly recommend getting non finished to prevent heartache from shipping scars

I hope the headers will give me the ground clearance I need. Full length headers give very little clearance and hang below the frame.

Love the Mid Length Headers. Well built and thick flanges.

I have a 1957 Belair 2dr HT originally with a 6cyl. Will be installing a Gen 1 350sbc. Original pitman arm, original steering box, 4 spd manual T-100, original clutch location, Edelbrock Performer heads (straight plugs). Prefer a 3/4 length or shorty header (bare steel). What header will fit this combination or what modifications need to be made? Also, what is it about Edelbrock heads that cause a problem with certain headers?
