Speedway Tech Talk - Carpet & Sill Plates

Pat brought out a 2 piece carpet kit for a 1967-1969 Chevy Camaro. The kits are properly made with correct contours for the transmission tunnel and foot well. Some portions may still need to be cut to fit. This is usually more just of a finish trim on the edges, but it is best to wait until the carpet is in to make that cut. Since these carpets do ship rolled up in a box, Pat suggests laying it out in the sun for a few hours to soften up and smooth it out. This will help greatly not only with installation but also with getting the wrinkles from shipment out.

If you’re installing new carpet, why not finish it out nicely with a set of new door sill plates? Speedway Motors offers some reproduction Body by Fisher plates, direct fit Eddie Motorsports billet plates, and several universal options as well.
