Overall Assessment

Customers appreciate the Speedway dual carb intake manifold for its superior quality, design, and value. They particularly note the product's excellent craftsmanship and finish, with one customer suggesting it elevates the look of their classic Merc flathead. Some customers had to make slight modifications for fitment, but overall, the product performs exceptionally well with users even noting its usability with different engine blocks. The polished version is highly recommended for its dazzling appearance. Looks pretty good.

Casting surface is nice. No pores or sand. Threads look good. Spot faced bolt holes have small burrs. Had enough meat to the casting to port out to match the block. Lines up to back of block nicely. For the price i was suprised by the good quality a d appearance.

Not a perfect bolt on.

Love the finish. Carb spacing fits the Holley carbs while the old Offy 3x2 doesn't. The upper and inner road draft tube holes are too small. Had to dremel them larger. The oil filler tube hole is a sloppy loose fit. I drilled and added a set screw then sealed the gap with a dab of rtv. The generator stud hole is tapped for a 1/2" coarse thread that does NOT fit the stock ford mounting stud. Still trying to determine the correct thread before drilling and tapping it. The generator stud kit from Speedway does not fit this intake. The stock generator bracket also does not fit. Either the side wings on the mount or the taper on the manifold has to be ground down to fit correctly. Go figure.... made in China.

The center generator mounting boss is too wide to accomodate the Powergen mounting bracket. Approximately 1/8" of material must be ground off the outside of the flanges to allow the bracket to travel freely. This is best done before the manifold is installed.

Nicely finished and worked well on our 8 BA Flathead.

The bolt pattern is not specific to 8BA and is same as found on the early 59AB blocks. This will leave several bolt holes unused.

There is a note that the generator mounting boss is moved slightly towards the drivers side. Can you tell me how much it is moved relative to the stock manifold on an 8BA Flathead ? I have the 8BA installed in a 41 pickup and there is not a lot of room to shift the fan.

This intake resembles a familiar brand. Is this a lesser expensive import, or of equal quality to the big names?
