Chrome 1946-1953 Flathead Alternator Bracket

Service as expected, product as described.

Mine is a work in progress. The parts I purchased from Speedway are mounted, look great, and are ready to go. The 'go' part is sometime in the future?

This is as nice a product as I have seen, and the instructions for modifications for proper alternator fit that come with the bracket are spot on. However, I bought this along with the optional wider "truck" pulley,with intentions of using this with the truck style water pumps and crank pulley. I also used the wider truck application fan hub. Be advised, the stock belts won't fit! I finally went to my local auto parts supplier and got a selection of differing length belts, and played around with them to get a set that would work. A lot of fartin' around, but I'm very pleased with the result. My rating is for the quality of the part and instructions. Just wish there was some sort of notice in the listing about belt fitment issues.

This bracket is plenty heavy duty for mounting a GM alternator. Be advised the holes are threaded 7/16 x 14tpi, so the original bolts on your generator mount likely won't fit. You'll need to source new bolts. I picked up some stainless bolts locally. Before you buy this bracket, make sure you do not intend to mount an A/C compressor. If you will want to upgrade to A/C, there are brackets available that mount the alternator and compressor side by side, and this bracket would be made useless. If you only want to mount the alternator, this bracket is a good value.
