Hooker Headers 2457HKR Details

Hooker Competition headers offer the best value in the high performance header market. Designed for the value-conscious buyer who is running either a "stock" or "mildly-modified" engine, Hooker Competition headers offer premium features at a very competitive price. Made of durable 16-gauge mild steel tubing, the Hooker Competition header design utilizes a long transition collector to reduce back pressure and increase exhaust flow. A perfect sealing surface is assured with the 5/16" machined flanges, with welded O-ring seals. Experience has proven that this flange size is ideal to maintain header integrity and be pliable enough to seal each exhaust port. Tubing is mandrel-bent to maintain metal strength and provide consistent tube diameter at radii to maximize performance. Hooker Competition headers have a standard finish that features a heat-cured, high-heat-resistant paint. Optionally, the famous Hooker Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating is available.

Ordered the exact model of the existing header which fit the vehicle perfect, they were just getting a little old. However, the new version would require me to perform major denting to clear the steering box! My suspicion is possibly made somewhere other than here, like the originals were from 15 years ago. Had to return new one and just clean up the old ones. Too bad! :(

If you're getting headers for your BBC and want to go the cheapest route possible, this is your best bet. The mounting flanges are quality and they really are a quality product. I installed on a 1971 Nova that has a swapped in 454 with the correct BBC frame stands. Passenger side goes on easy but you'll need to make a few dents to clear the upper control arm and to get it away from the fuel line. The real issues begin on the driver side. There is absolutely no way you can fit these with power steering and not dent them. I bashed them multiple times to get the fitment right. You have to lift the engine up to get them in so it's a lot of trial and error. Also, you won't be able to use the stock linkage if you're using a column shifter. WITH THAT BEING SAID, I would get them again. Unless you have the money to buy 1500 dollar headers, you're probably going to have to make some dents in them and I knew that, so I went for the cheapest ones so it would hurt less banging on my brand new parts.

Haven't installed them but the quality or the headers is great. Plan on ceramic coating them. shipping was cheap to Canada. Cant buy them for this price here. Terry Rudow
