Factory Ford 9-inch pinion yokes have seen a lot over the years and can often be out of spec, creating play in the pinion gear splines or in the U-joint mounting area. Grabbing a used 9-inch Ford yoke from a swap meet table or a junk yard, even if it visually appears OK, is just asking for problems. This is especially true if you’re completely rebuilding your 9-inch with upgrades to support more horsepower. These super strong pinion yokes feature the correct dimensions for use with popular 9-inch ring and pinion sets that utilize a 28-spline 1.218-inch diameter pinion gear. While Ford originally specified different pinion yokes for standard and Daytona pinion supports, we have machined our 28-spline 4-inch yoke with a slightly shorter spline relief. This relief cut allows our Ford 9-inch yoke to work for either application without any other changes or machine work. We’ve also ensured compatibility with the majority of OEM 9-inch applications by retaining the 1310 U-joint dimensions. Simply add a 1310 U-joint strap kit (AKA Ford 9-inch U-bolts), and a fresh pinion nut along with your choice of crush sleeve or solid spacer and give your 9-inch the best shot at handling whatever you throw at it.
