IMCA Approved GM Metric Control Arms That Are Ready to Take You to The Winner’s Circle
Never has the adage “time is money” been more relevant than with racers. Spending hours modifying or rehabbing a part for it to work with your race program is a hard sell when there are countless solutions ready to go to solve the problem and get you back in the racing seat in time for the next race. Even when it comes to budget-friendly spec racing classes, often the new part is the best option to go with versus a weekend worth of fabrication.
A perfect example are GM’s Metric control arms used in many IMCA spec classes like Hobby Stock, Stock Car, and others. Stock Metric upper control arms are often rusty, or even bent/damaged, and the stock rubber bushings usually have seen better days. The lower control arm isn’t usually much better. Taking your tired old arms, blasting them, painting them, and pressing in new bushings, is labor intensive, and if your arms are bent, cracked, or damaged it makes the labor to refurbish them even more of a moot point.
Ready To Install Right from The Box to Your Race Car
These replacement Metric control arms feature stock center-to-center dimensions of 11 inches for the upper arms and 19-3/8 inches for the lower arms. All new stampings, they are powder coated for a long life and feature IMCA approved rubber bushings with 1/2-inch ID bushing sleeves. The 1/2-inch ID is popular among racers who loath metric fasteners on their race cars. Now a standard SAE wrench/socket will work for servicing your performance control arms. No more drilling out stock bushing sleeves from 12mm to 1/2-inch!
However, if your car was using Metric arms and 12mm hardware previously you will need to drill out your axle brackets and frame holes to 1/2-inch to match the new upper control arm and lower control arm. We even offer a trick extended lower control arm bolt for the frame end of the lower control arm that eliminates losing your socket inside the frame during removal or installation. The rest of the control arm bolt locations can use standard GM A-body control arm fasteners if yours have seen better days or you are replacing your metric hardware with SAE with these control arms.
If you’re considering upgrading from the GM 10-bolt Metric axle housing to the more popular and better served Ford 9-inch axle family, we offer weld-on Metric control arm bracket kits in single hole and multi hole offerings. Remembering that time is money, we also offer complete 9-inch axle housings with Metric brackets welded in place. You can opt between a standard 9-inch housing or a Grand National style full floater housing kit with hubs, axles, and more.
Application
Note: These control arms fit the following vehicles as stock replacement items provided the frame and rear end control arm bracket bolt holes are drilled out from the stock 12mm to 1/2" and 1/2" hardware utilized.

Only thing to keep in mind is all rubber bushings have 1/2" holes in the sleeves. The rear hole on the upper is left metric. Can easily be drilled to 1/2".
