Wheels and Tires - 410 Sprint Car Build
Today, we’re putting the wheels and tires on the car. We have all the pieces, so let’s get started! The first item on our list is to swap out the wheel hardware for titanium on the wheel center and bead lock. Titanium will be lighter with less rotating weight.
Next, we’ll put on the valve stems. We’ll start with the rear and then move to the front. Then, it’s time for the springs. When it comes to staggering, more is used on tracks that have wide, sweeping corners. On tracks with tighter corners, less stagger is needed. Many racers have multiple sets of tires in their trailer to adjust for track conditions.
Now, we’re ready to mount some tires. We’re torquing these the same as the wheel center at 25. Once the tires are filled with air, we let them sit for a bit. Then, we’ll let them back down. The left front tire is the shallower offset, farther out. Some people choose to have a different offset depending on how they want their car to handle. Spacers allow for easy adjustments as well.
Finally, we’re ready to put it on the ground! It’s always a satisfying moment to admire what you’ve built. We’re getting really close to finishing this project! Keep following along with us for the final steps.
