Enjoy the Drive Once Again
In the muscle car heyday, a tilt steering wheel was a scarce reality saved for luxury cars and exotics. If you did not fit well between the steering wheel and the seat tough cookies! It does not have to be that way today for your muscle car or street rod. Get behind the wheel and drive again in comfort with a Speedway Motors Universal GM Tilt Steering Column.
Do not let our product name scare you either! The "GM"is referring to the electrical connection type and steering shaft spline for the steering wheel. This column can just as easily fit into a Dodge, Ford, or any other project you may be building with just a little effort adapting the wiring to your vehicle and picking up a GM-specific steering wheel adapter for your aftermarket steering wheel of choice.
A Premium Tilt Column with All the Features You Want
Old tilt columns are just that-old! Do not waste your time in a salvage yard digging around for a steering column for your project that will undoubtably need a complete rebuild. Not to mention it most likely will be too long or too short for your application.
Using one of our universal tilt steering columns is the way to go. This is not just any old aftermarket steering column either. Manufactured with all new parts in a compact design, they will literally fit most anywhere. The small 2-inch diameter steering column tube and compact tilt head that is just 7-inches in length provides copious amounts of leg room while fitting nicely within most any dash.
The five-position tilt head allows 30 degrees of tilt, 20 degrees up and 10 degrees down from straight. This tilt function not only provides the perfect angle for personal driving comfort but can facilitate easier ingress/egress with a simple flick of the tilt lever.
Our column shift model features a compact shift lever with built in offset to clear most any dash or gauge package. The column mounted shift indicator is easy to read day or night thanks to its built-in backlight feature. Two indicator lenses are included, one for 3-speed and one for 4-speed automatic transmissions. We also offer this column in a floor shift version.
Details That Are an Industry Standard
We all have our favorite makes and models, but when it comes to tilt steering columns the 1969-1994 GM version takes top billing. These columns have been used as salvage yard retrofits for decades due to their wide fitment range, ease of availability, and huge aftermarket support for service replacement parts like turn signal switches, bearings, and more. So, when it was time for us to build our own universal tilt columns of course we kept ours true to these popular GM models.
Our tilt steering columnsfollowthese 1969-1994GM specifications for steering wheel spline, turn signal wiring, and more (making them a near-drop-in replacement for these years). We do upgrade the GM double-D (DD) steering shaft output from the OE .985 inches to a true 1-inch DD dimension for better compatibility with aftermarket U-joints and steering shaft components for connecting to your steering box or steering rack.
Installs Easily in Almost Anything with Four Wheels
Our Universal GM Tilt Steering Column arrives in achrome platedfinish ready tomake yourinterior color scheme pop and ships with cleanly styled chrome-plated control levers for the turn signal switch, tilt mechanism, shifter, and hazard light switch. If you prefer, we offer our column in a plain steel version as well. The 2-inch OD column tube allows it to be easily secured to your dash using the original mount or a universal column mount. We offer upper and lower column mounts, column drops, and firewall supports to aid in your installation.
The standard GM steering wheel spline means any 1969-1994 GM steering wheel is a direct fit, or you can purchase a steering wheel adapter to aid in fitting your 3-, 5-, or 9-bolt wheel to your new column. Our steering wheel adapter buyer's guide will help you find the proper fit.
Our Universal Tilt Steering Column uses GM steering column wiring connectors. The standard 3-7/8-inch turn signal switch connector even uses stock GM wire color codes. This makes our column a direct plug-and-play electrical connection to millions of GM vehicles or just about any vehicle that has been upgraded with an aftermarket wiring harness. For non-GM vehicles with factory wiring, you can easily adapt your turn signal wiring by crimping on a new harness connector to match the OE Chevy steering column wiring connector.
If a fixed steering column is preventing you from enjoying your ride, then upgrade to our Universal GM Tilt Steering Column today and drive your vehicle in comfort. Your knees will thank you for it!

seems great
put thus column in a 1964 chevy c10 length is correct it is a all steel column seems to be very good quality and so far looks like the stock steering wheel will work , I have no idea so far why anyone would spend more on a tilt column . I used a 1980's steering box and shaft from a two wheel drive suburban. factory mounts work well , I should have gotten the wiring plug from the suburban also or ordered the conversion plug would have saved time.
