Upgrade Your Mustang II IFS System’s Spindles with Stronger Forged Versions

The Mustang II front suspension design, found under the 1974-1978 Mustang II and 1974-1980 Pinto/Bobcat, has a long history in the hot rod and muscle car world as the IFS conversion to use. These early adopters used factory front crossmembers and suspension components cut from wrecked Mustangs at the beginning. This meant stamped steel control arms, cast steel spindles, and rather small 9-inch disc brakes. Later, the aftermarket would introduce chassis specific crossmembers that were easier to graft into various applications, though they still used OEM suspension components for the most part. It wouldn’t be until the aftermarket caught up to the demand with full Mustang II IFS conversions using strong tubular Mustang II control arms, forged steel spindles, and larger 11- to 13-inch disc brake kits.

Today, if you’re still running an older Mustang II front end you can easily upgrade your IFS’s strength and ability with said tubular control arms, forged spindles, and larger disc brakes without having to replace your older crossmember. Forget hunting down original Mustang II spindles, or using lesser quality cast replacement spindles, and go straight to the premium strength of a forged spindle. Forged Mustang II spindles are hot forged under pressure to their final shape; heat treated and then surfaces machined. This forging process maintains the metal’s grain structure for increased strength. Cast Mustang II spindles are made from a mold that molten steel is poured into, thus having less strength in critical areas due to the non-uniform grain structure. Cast Mustang 2 spindles can fail with hard driving, whereas the forged Mustang 2 spindles are the strongest you can get.

Our Forged Spindles Accept All Factory Mustang II Suspension Components, Bearings, And More

If you’re running original cast Mustang 2 spindles, or early aftermarket cast spindles you owe it to yourself to run the strongest spindle available for your safety and peace of mind. Our forged Mustang II spindles provide the perfect foundation for installing big brakes and tackling a road course or autocross without fear of snapping a spindle pin or “candlestick” as some call it. Best of all, these forged and heat-treated spindles directly replace your stock cast pieces with zero modifications on your Mustang II IFS kit. These forged spindles feature the same ball joint taper, steering arm length, overall height, and more. They accept all stock Mustang II wheel bearings and seals for a complete and easy conversion (don’t forget new spindle nut hardware too!). The stock pin height means you maintain stock ride height (or whatever ride height your coilover shocks are adjusted to), but if you need to go lower, we do offer forged 2-inch drop spindles as well. These Mustang II drop spindles offer the same strength and bolt on design with a built-in two-inch lowered ride height.

A Strong Chassis Black Powder Coat Provides Ultimate Protection

If you’re going through the effort of updating your older Mustang II IFS kit with new tubular arms, big brakes, and more, you don’t want to spend your valuable time disassembling and masking off your new parts to paint them or trying to find a source for local powder coating. We offer our forged spindles in a durable and long-lasting chassis black-style of powder coating (along with matching powder coated Mustang II tubular control arms as well) to provide that sleek, professional appearance that simply bolts right on. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration and opt for our line of powder coated Mustang II suspension components when updating your old Mustang II crossmember or building out your custom Mustang II IFS system for your project.
