Flex-A-Lite 238 Details

The revolutionary, patent-pending Flex-Wave™ LoBoy electric fan from Flex-A-Lite® has greater airflow, is more efficient and is quieter than traditional S-blade and straight-blade designs. The Flex-Wave fan moves up to 20 percent more airflow than Flex-A-Lite Trimline fans, and up to 33 percent more airflow than the comparable electric fans from the competitors!

This 16-inch Flex-Wave LoBoy fan moves 3,000 cfm of airflow and an extremely thin, 3 3/16-inch depth.

Converting from a belt-driven fan to a Flex-A-Lite electric fan frees up wasted horsepower and increases gas mileage. When used as an auxiliary fan, these units will provide additional cooling.

More than having just a different look, the Flex-Wave electric-fan blade has several aerodynamic advantages for air movement:

  • The leading edge of the fan blade is no longer a single, solid line. The sine-wave design creates leading edges that cut through the air first. This starts movement in the air around the blade with greater efficiency.
  • The wave surface of the blades creates channels for the air to move along, producing more airflow and reducing energy losses.
  • The wave surface forms a winglet at the tip of the blade, further increasing efficiency by reducing air vortices.
  • The trailing edge of the fan blade also has variations, which reduces wind noise.
  • 30 amp fuse rating
  • 18.5 Amp draw
  • 16-1/2 x 16 x 3-3/16 Inch
  • 3,000 CFM
  • 10 blades
  • Air movement direction: Puller

Yes I would buy this fan again.

The product works great it moves a lot of air. I had a cooling problem on my 29 Ford Roadster and only running a 160 degree thermostat.. Installed the new fan and problem was solved. Car runs at 160-170 degrees all day. Before it was running up to around 195-200 degrees. Like I said before the only con is the cost of the fan. But like the old saying goes you get what you pay for.

Wrong part in box and no refund

My husband bought this fan for his antique car. The box said it was a 16" fan just like he had ordered, but once he put it on the car, he thought it looked off. It wouldn't cool properly so we measured it, and it was a 14" fan. We contacted the seller, sent pictures, and they gave us a shipping label to return it. It's been over 2 weeks since we returned it and haven't heard anything back about a refund. I wouldn't recommend purchasing from this company.

I installed this on my 1958 GMC pickup along with an aluminum radiator that utilizes 1" tubes and is equipped with a shallow aluminum shroud. Instead of powering it with a relay, it is operated with a driver that has an adjustable temperature control. This combination works on the hottest days here in southern Arizona, and, unlike competing electrical fans, it is quiet. Win, win.

I need a very shallow fan in my 1940 Ford street rod. The only fan I could find that was shallow enough only pulled 1600 cfm and would not keep the coolant temperature in the 180-190 range I desire. This fan with 3000 cfm seems to do the job (but I need to verify this summer in the heat). I did have to machine 3/8" off of the housing to fit into the restricted area on my car.
