I have two sets of these. One on a 83 el Camino with old school intake and carb so issues there. The other set is on a 97 c1500 using the vortec bolt pattern. First of all when using a L31 vortec intake the casting where the valve covers are sticks out to far not allowing the intake to sit properly. If you manage to get it under it it will leak and the only way to get the intake back off is to loosen the entire cylinder head. The way to fix this is to take a flap disk on a angle grinder and lightly skim the area to fit. Second stock vortec heads block off a coolant passage that leads to a hole just under the passenger lower water pump bolt. These do not. You either have to tap the hole and put a plug in it or get a different water pump that covers the hole. I do realize these are more of a universal aftermarket head and certain older SBCs utilize that passage but annoying find out the hard way when the engine is in the truck all buttoned up. Overall the quality of the head is very nice and I have put a couple thousand miles on them but should not have to take a angle grinder to some brand new heads out the box.
