Speedway Motors 91031917 Details

These kits allow you to put disc brakes on your 1948-56 Ford 1/2 ton pick-ups. No spindle modifications are required.

Basic Disc Brake Kit:

  • This basic disc brake kit installs '70-'77 Camaro rotors and '70-'77 Camaro (or GM equivalent) single-piston calipers on 1948-52 F1 and 1953-56 F100 Ford half-ton pickup truck spindles.

Rotor:

  • 11" front disc brake rotor
  • Has a 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern.

Caliper:

Mid and full size GM style caliper is a standard full size GM caliper used for years on many vehicles (1969-72 Chevelle, 73-77 A-Body, 1969-1981 Camaro, 1977 Caprice, S-10 pickups, etc). It will fit any bracket / spindle designed for the large GM calipers (7” mount width).

  • 7/16"-20 inlet so you can use the readily available brake hoses and hardware from Pre-1978 GM midsize cars
  • Fits 1" thick rotor. 2.8" diameter pistons installed
  • Has 7-1/16" center to center mounting holes
  • The width between mounting tabs is 2-3/4"
  • Depending on the spindle and rotor size it will not fit in most 14” wheels (nor in 15” drum brake wheels)

Wheel Bearing:

Fits tapered-bearing hubs. Works with stepped shaft spindles

  • Steel
  • Outer bearing cones

Brake Pads:

  • Only use full metallic pads on coated rotors.
  • Organic compound for use on cast iron rotors, long life, low wear

Learn how to properly Bed-In your brake pads by reading our tech article. Bedding-In Brake Pad Procedure.

Bearing Cups:

These steel inner bearing cones are replacement for our GM to Ford brake conversion bearing and seal kits. Fits tapered-bearing hubs. Works with stepped shaft spindles.

  • Steel
  • Inner bearing cones
  • High quality through hardened bearing steel for improved reliability
  • High grade rollers have improved profile and surface finish for increased life and reduced edge stress.

Kit Includes:

  • Vented cast iron rotors
  • GM single piston calipers (7/16"-20 inlets)
  • Brake pads
  • Caliper slide bolts

1948-1956 Ford Half Ton Deluxe Disc Brake Kit, 5 x 4-3/4 Inc

Good quality and easy to install. No modifications needed. Will make my Gasser stop a lot better. Would recommend to anyone.

Product was pretty bad

The kit came with spindle Adaptors that slide on the spindle to increase its size for the larger GM bearings and seals. The seals included in the kit were so loose fitting on the adaptors that I could see daylight between them. No way this would retain grease. The brake shoes were so poor quality that that would move around 3/8 of an inch much in all directions once installed and they would actually touch the center of the hub and would have ground against it. I had to source and pay for my own seals and brake shoes. Customer service was no help as they were not familiar with the kit and when I tried to explain the issues to The tech he said," well you bought a budget kit". I would not recommend this kit to anyone and would not buy it again.

Everything fit as expected except didn't need the spacers on the spindles, not sure why they're included in the kit. And I believe the brake pads should come with the anti-raddle clips. I was made to order those separate.

I would buy this again.
