Return PolicyThese kits allow you to put front disc brakes on your 1948-56 Ford F100 1/2 ton pickup trucks. No spindle modifications are required - this is a bolt-on kit. This F100 disc brake conversion kit uses '76-'81 Dodge Aspen brake rotors (or Chrysler equivalent) and '70-'77 Camaro brake calipers (or GM equivalent) on stock '48-'56 Ford half ton pickup truck spindles. Rotors have a 5 on 4-1/2" Ford bolt pattern.

Disc brake review
Products themselves seem to be good quality, especially for the price. Had issues with nuts that came in kit mot fitting on bolts for backing plate. Called their tech line and was told they were lock nuts and are suppose to be hard to go on. All it dod was mangle all the threads and couldnt tighten all the way down. Bought new nuts and bolts from hardware store. Directions were pretty bad. The diagram was not correct on placement of calipers in relation to mounting bracket. Calipers came with metal sleeve that tech line informed me had to be removed to work with supplied bolts. Nothing in directions to let you know this tho. All in all its a good kit once its figured out. Would buy again for another project.

All in one kit but has issues
The kit is great because everything is included but I had numerous issues that will keep me from ever buying this kit again. First thing I ran in to was that the spacers for the caliper mounting brackets were too small and had to reamed to the proper size so they fit on the bolts all of the way. The next issue was that the bearing adapter that mount on the spindles for the rear bearings were too big. I had to special order green loctite in order to keep them in place. I posted about this on a couple of F100 Facebook groups and it turns out to be a common issue with these kits. The final and biggest issue is that the center hub of the rotor is too big, both in diameter and depth, for any wheel except for aftermarket. I have tried 3 different OEM wheels and none fit. I want to the run Mustang Bullitt wheels that I have so ordered a set of spacers because the hubs are too deep for the wheels to sit against the rotor completely. Well guess what? The spacers won't fit either because of the rotor hub diameter. If the rotors didn't have a second raised lip then there wouldn't as much of a problem.

Nice kit overall, but the instructions are meh. They will get you through, but the photocopied image on order installation and orientation of different pieces is hard to see. Adding a sentence about removing the silver spacers in the caliper in order to fit the caliper bolts would have saved me a bit of frustration. Overall quality looks good. We'll have to see about durability.

Fitment was excellent and troublefree. Instructions could have been a little clearer. I installed bracket upside down first time, as no indicator for direction, and only a small blow-up pic in instructions.

Used this kit to put disc brakes on my 27 dodge roadster pu. Has 4"dropped model A axle with 48 pickup spindles. Every thing worked good except seals would not fit hubs. Speedway has sent me replacements have not yet tried to install them yet.

The stock bolt pattern on my '49 F1 is 5 X 5-1/2. If there are no typos in the specs and this kit is really 5 X 4-1/2, it requires a different set of front wheels, correct?

Your product description lists this as compatible with 48-56 Ford F-100 1/2 ton pickups. Ford designated the 1/2 ton pickup as F-1 until '53, when the F-100 redesign happened. I imagine a lot of the guts of these trucks didn't change, but just checking that this kit will work with the F-1 as well as F-100.
