Keep Your 67-69 GM F-Body LS Swap Cool Using Our WindChill® Crossflow Aluminum Radiator
The stock GM F-body radiator found in GM’s pony car fighter (Camaro and Firebird) were your typical copper/brass construction with two rows of cooling within the core. These Chevy muscle car radiators handled standard production engine cooling with ease, but once owners started turning up the performance dial cooling issues often reared their ugly head, causing overheating or other cooling system issues. Like any performance V8, the modern Chevy LS engine requires a properly sized radiator to adequately control the engine’s thermal needs.
Once you begin upping compression, adding timing, and bolting on performance parts, the stock cooling system cannot keep up with the engine’s thermal demands. Adding a larger aftermarket aluminum radiator isn’t always physically possible, so going with additional cores is your best option to rein in those engine temps. Our WindChill® 3-core direct fit aluminum performance radiator for LS powered 67-69 GM F-Body cars takes the guesswork out of building the proper cooling system for your LS-swap GM muscle car build. It is designed to work and fit perfectly with OEM-style mounting brackets directly to the core support, just like GM intended, and LS radiator-spec upper and lower cooling system hoses. It also includes a built-in automatic transmission cooler, just like the original.
Three Row Core for Increased Thermal Transfer and Greater Coolant Capacity
If the stock two rows of 1-inch cooling tubes are good, three rows of cooling tubes are better, right? Not always, but it can be. Just adding a third row or “core” to a two core radiator can often increase the thickness of the Camaro radiator core to the point there are fitment issues in the vehicle, or the core thickness becomes too much for the typical electric or engine driven fan to pull air through, negating the benefit of the additional core tube. Our WindChill® three core LS-swap radiator for GM’s 1st gen F-Body uses .790-inch core tubes, so our three row Camaro aluminum radiator is only 7/16-inch thicker yet has a 17 percent increase in coolant capacity. The additional coolant tube in our three row radiators also provides more thermal transfer to the cooling fins that surround the core tubes, providing better cooling with minimal additional core thickness. It is the best solution for increased coolant capacity and thermal transfer efficiency without causing fitment issues in most F-Body LS-swap radiator installations.
Crafted from aluminum with stamped and dimple reinforced end tanks for the best heat transfer and the lightest weight, our 3-core aluminum performance radiator for LS V8 powered 67-69 GM F-Body is completely furnace brazed for a long life in your GM muscle car. No epoxy to crack and fail, no O-ring gasketed end tanks to leak. Just quality build construction that will last. Utilizing a dual pass 3-row radiator crossflow design, each 67-69 GM F-Body Camaro aluminum LS-swap radiator is ready for your GM LS V8-powered cooling system needs with correct LS engine specific inlet and outlet radiator hose fittings, sized at 1.25-inch at the upper left and 1.50-inch at the lower left respectively, along with a 1/8-27 NPT steam port fitting and a 3/8-inch NPT temperature sensor/switch port. Top and bottom hat channel rails allow installation of most electric fan/shroud packages. Additionally, a standard internal stacked plate style transmission cooler is included and connects to your transmission cooler lines via 1/2-20 inverted flare fittings or can be converted to AN -6 fittings for use with aftermarket AN transmission cooler line kits.
Lastly, our WindChill® 70-81 GM F-Body radiator features a strong billet aluminum radiator neck that utilizes industry standard 1-5/8-inch radiator caps and includes a pre-installed 5/16-inch hose barb fitting for use with an overflow tank of your choice to help you create the right LS specific cooling system for your 67-69 GM F-Body muscle car project.
