LS engine swaps are often completed on a budget, meaning the stock exhaust manifolds are kept in place to keep costs down. While the stock manifolds can work, once you start increasing the airflow into the engine with intake, cold air, larger throttle body, and of course the all-powerful LS cam swap, then you’re going to need help on the exhaust side as well with set of LS engine swap headers to support that increased airflow through the engine.
There are many header options available for popular LS swaps, but often the most interesting LS swaps are the ones not commonly seen. Planning an LS into a Volvo? Or perhaps an LS into a Miata? As hot rodders we all know where there’s a will, there’s a way to get it done. Our universal LS swap long tube headers are a great option for those that do not have a direct fit option available to them or are willing to possibly break out the cut-off wheel or grinder to make these universal LS long tube headers fit popular LS swap chassis and save considerable project budget over the higher cost of engineered direct fit LS headers for those popular applications like C-10 pickups, G-bodies, and the like.
Constructed from 304 Stainless Steel for Durability and Corrosion Resistance
When budgeting for LS swap headers, painted steel models are always the price leader, but then you’re constantly fighting peeling and flaking paint due to the intense heat environment that headers work in. So, you save a few bucks, but you end up hating the look of your LS headers and the constant maintenance. Coated LS swap headers are a better option, but the price is often double or triple the cost of the painted version. Our universal LS long tube headers are built from quality 304 stainless steel. No coating to scratch or dull, no paint to flake off, and the surface can be cleaned or even fully polished if you desire. Heat cycling provides that unique blue and gold coloration as well to the pipes.
Our universal long tube headers for LS swap begins with a thick CNC-machined 3/8-inch header flange. This provides a nice, flat leak free sealing surface to your cylinder heads. The primary tubes are mandrel bent for uniform diameter through the tubing’s run and feature a large 1-3/4-inch diameter to support your airflow needs. The primaries converge into a standard non-flanged 3-inch collector (requires slip fit or weld on reducer) and we added a merge spike inside the collector to help with scavenging. The header flange, primary tubes, and collector are TIG welded for strength and left in a natural stainless steel finish that can be polished if desired. Lastly, we include standard oxygen sensor bungs welded into both collectors for those using factory or aftermarket EFI systems that rely on oxygen sensors for air/fuel management. O2 bung plugs are not included, so if your engine management uses a single wideband O2 sensor you will need to grab an O2 bung plug for your installation (two if you’re not running any EFI or wideband A/F gauges).
