UniSteer 8010600 Details

Finally a bolt-on power rack and pinion for 1955-57 Chevy cars. Simply remove the original steering box, idler arm and tie rod assembly and bolt this unit back in using the original mounting holes. Includes tie rod ends, special steering arms, and a pair of banjo fittings to adapt to AN6 fluid lines. Can be used with most GM steering pumps.

  1. This item must be used with OEM style spindles. It WILL NOT work with dropped spindles.
  2. Designed for use with S/B Chevy 265-400 c.i. V-8 with side engine mounts only.
  3. Must use chassis headers and a stock type pan sump for clearance.
  4. Steering U-joint 910-32255 is required (17mm).

It's great build and solid materials It won't fit ls engines don't matter Wich oil pan do you use It just won't fit It's designed for stock engines only

Verified

Mounting bracket at frame is approx. 1/8" too narrow on bottom of both sides. Top fits tight. I would of liked to see a 1" DD shaft as most steering columns are 1".

Will this power rack fit a 55 chevy with BBC with 3/4 forward side mounts that use the rivet holes on the cross member to bolt to? Proformance Online sells them, they are high quality made parts. I'm not worried to much about the headers i can fab me up a set if i have to. Thanks

Is this compatible with LS swaps in Tri-5 cars!? The previous cryptic answer to an LS compatibility question cites part # 91032246 but when searched it comes right back to Unisteer 8010400-01, not really helpful with $800 part that may or may not be right... Is this a matter of where the lines go into the pinion on the rack? Is there another rack for this applicaiton?
