Overall Assessment

Customers applaud the Tuff-Stuff mini starter for its high-quality construction, performance, and value for money. Users particularly admire its compatibility with heat-circulation headers and its adjustable solenoid. They found it reliable, powerful and fast in starting their vehicles. Some customers highlighted that it surpasses other market options due to its super cranking power and ability to fit perfectly, while also providing room for headers. The feature of providing new bolts and shims is greatly appreciated. However, some users have suggested improvements in solenoid connection, recommending a screw-on connection instead of a push-on one. Despite a few instances of defective products, users still preferably choose this starter for its constructive attributes.

Disposable

My street rod came with a Tuff Stuff on it and because of misalignment I purchased this one to replace it as the gear was worn off. After struggling t for two hours trying to figure out why nothing was happening when I turned the key I pulled it out and bench tested it. Sure the starter was defective and the solenoid was not engaging. So I returned it for another. Speedway is very good about this and have now sent me another one right away. After researching on line this appears to be a real problem for Tuff Stuff (inferior products). Guess thats why some of the others are more expensive.

Was good that I could clock it to move it a little further away from the header for heat purposes.

Bought this new Tuff-Stuff mini starter for my 1985 Corvette to replace a (supposed) high torque mini-starter I bought at a huge vendor at a car show two years ago. Old one started dragging within a year with less than 1,500 miles, at which point, I considered it unreliable. I tossed it and installed the Tuff-Stuff recently and what a difference! We'll see how long it lasts but it immediately spins so much faster; the car starts so much quicker. Only con is that, like all mini-starters that I've seen, the solenoid connection is a flimsy 1/4" push-on connector. Should provide a screw-on connection on something this important. It ain't a dang 4 ohm speaker. Hit a decent size tree limb and it's likely to jerk the wire off the plug.

Lenght of the unit Hey folks. I have block hugger headers. What is the overall length of the starter from outside edge of mounting face as I need to be sure the back of the starter will clear. Thanks. Bob
