Ensure Your Transmission Swap Success with Our Kickdown Cable Kit
The transmission kickdown is a critical part of your transmission’s operation. The cable assembly (and on some older vehicles an actual medal rod/linkage) connects to the engine’s carburetor or throttle body EFI system and provides a downshift, or “kickdown” to what many refer to as a “passing gear.” This performs a downshift to the transmission automatically when the accelerator pedal is depressed to wide open throttle (WOT), placing the engine’s output in the peak power and torque range for maximum acceleration to pass a vehicle. This is all accomplished without the driver having to touch the shift lever in the car, possibly downshifting too far (all the way to first gear) or potentially moving the shift lever to neutral or reverse, causing catastrophic damage.
When swapping a different transmission behind your project’s engine you will often find the factory kickdown linkage or passing gear cable will not interface with your new transmission, or the factory transmission kickdown linkage that came with your donor transmission will not fit your vehicle (exhaust or crossmember interference, etc.). Of course, most reman transmissions and performance transmissions do not come with shift levers and kickdown setups of any sort, relying on the installer to figure everything out. In any of these cases, a universal cable-type kickdown assembly is your best bet to obtain a functional transmission kickdown cable adjustment for your engine and transmission combo.
Transmission Kickdown Cable Kits Fit Popular GM, Ford, and Mopar Transmissions
Available for many of the most popular swap transmissions, our kickdown cable kits are an excellent value, having all the same great features as others on the market for less! We currently have kick down cable kits for GM’s TH350, 700R4, and 4L60 automatic transmissions; Ford C4 and C6 automatic transmissions; and Mopar 727 and 904 automatic transmissions. Be it a TH350 kickdown cable or other popular transmission, these kickdown cables are real problem solvers! These kick down cable kits feature a cut-to-fit outer sheath and cable (can be cut with hacksaw or fine cutoff wheel), providing the perfect length, and routing no matter the engine/transmission combination and engine bay obstacles. They are available in either braided stainless steel or black polyethylene covered outer finishes with matching aluminum fittings. The PTFE inner lining provides smooth cable actuation in any environment and through multiple bends making routing a breeze.
Each cable kit includes the necessary mounting brackets/connections for the transmission of choice along with a standard adjustable cable end to attach to your carburetor or throttle body-style EFI system, making your transmission kickdown cable install easy. Most factory carburetor linkage brackets will accommodate these cable-style kickdown kits, but for those that need a mounting solution, we offer numerous throttle cable brackets to help adapt your kick down cable to any induction system. We also offer matching throttle cables if you’re looking to clean up your engine’s throttle and kickdown setup or converting from a mechanical throttle pedal to a cable operated throttle pedal at the same time as your trans swap. Kits for GM Tuned Port EFI applications are also available.
Quality Construction and Easy Installation Means Less Garage Time and More Driving Time
You’ll be hard pressed to find a transmission kickdown cable for your application that has the features and build construction at the price point we offer. Our transmission kickdown cables offer superior fit and finish, great looks, and smooth operation that will last the life of your project car or truck. The transmission kickdown cable install is easy, starting at the transmission end of the cable and routing the cable assembly up to your induction system. Trim the cable and housing assembly to the proper length required for your setup and install the cable end fitting for your carburetor or throttle body EFI system linkage and you’re ready to make your final transmission kickdown cable adjustment and hit the road. So, the next time you need to pass that Sunday driver you can easily and effortlessly engage your passing gear without the need for manipulating your automatic shifter lever, and possibly ruining your day with a misplaced shift into low gear, or worse, neutral, or reverse!

Customers appreciate the product's good quality and it meets expectations. However, there might be a need for custom bracket fabrication for precise throttle engagement. Despite this factor, customers find the product practical and satisfactory overall, even willing to repurchase. Its robust quality, usability, and the optimal result it delivers, distinctly set it apart from rivals.

Bear in mind you may have to fabricate bracketry to align throttle engagement with correct kickdown, and angles certainly play a big part in correct coordination between the two. On my '47 Ford Tudor with 289 and C4 with 2-BBL a completely custom bracket had to be fabbed.

My previous question was about if the 700r4 and 4L60 cables are the same, not about the TH350 cable.

Wouldn't this cable also work on a 700R4? Your 700R4 cable is on backorder but this one is available and if my research is right, the cable is the same for both. So couldn't I buy this to use on my 700R4?
