King Pins Perfection

I bought a Model A Ford that had been converted to juice brakes. When I went to change the king pins I realized that they weren't "Model A". Speedway Motors had great I'll information on the website that helped me figure out which parts to order. And when I called the order in I talked with a technical person who was great.

It's usable with a little extra work.

I read the reviews before I bought and there were several that were negative. I think a lot of the comments were made by people who expected the parts to jump out of the box and install themselves. It's an off-shore made king pin set. The good thing is all the parts are there. The not so good is that even after reaming the new bushings with the correct reamer, the king pins are too tight. There is a right way to use one of these reamers and that is to make the cuts in one direction only. Don't try to back a reamer up. It took a lot of honing on the bushings with a brake cylinder hone to get proper clearance on the king pins. I think that quality control is not a big deal with the manufacturer.

The bushings fit perfectly. However, I hadn't planed on having to get the bushings reamed to fit the king pins. After getting that done all went well.
