Overall Assessment

Our products, particularly the RTR distributor, are recognized by customers for their ease of installation and solid performance, taking engines up to 6500 on multiple occasions. Its quality construction ensures its reliability and efficiency. However, some customers reported minor obstacles related to the mechanical advance mechanism which were easily rectified, underlining our product's user-friendliness. Customers also appreciate the inclusion of additional bushings for mechanical advance adjustments. The prevailing opinion is that they would choose our product over competitors for future projects, acknowledging its excellent quality and value.

I bought this for a warmed up 302 I was building. The distributor install was a piece of cake. The wiring instructions made perfect sense and there wasn't much too it (3 wires if I remember correctly). The distributor seems to fire the coil accurately, and has proven to perform solid up to 6500 on a few occasions. The only reason I'm knocking a star off the ratings is a potential fit/finish issue around the mechanical advance mechanism. I encountered an issue where the base timing was inconsistent after checking total ignition advance. Sometimes it would return completely, other times it would stick at +10deg. After digging a bit, I found the distributor weights were hitting a spot on the bottom of the rotor. I chipped a bit of material off of the rotor (used a razor blade) where the weight was contacting, and now the timing returns to base without issue. Other note is on the advance bushings... I found the factory installed bushing to be approximately 20deg mechanical advance, whereas the literature claims "no bushing" to be 20 degrees. The distributor DID come with some other bushings to adjust the mechanical advance limit, but my engine seems to respond well with 20 mech, so I think I'll just leave it be. Overall, I've been pleased with how this distributor runs and will strongly consider getting another one for my next project.
