Stop scrounging the junkyard for those hard to find Ford pinion yokes. Whether you’re rebuilding a stock unit for your favorite old Ford, or putting the final touches on that “bullet-proof” Ford 9-inch third member build, start fresh and save time with a new Speedway Motors Forged Short Pinion Yoke.
We replicated the original “short” 4-inch length yoke found on many late model Ford cars and trucks and updated it using modern forged carbon steel. Whether you’re restoring a vintage 1950’s-80’s Ford or Mercury to OEM specs or hooking up that ground-pounding, high-horsepower custom build – our forged pinion yoke can handle it.
This yoke will fit any Ford 9-inch with a 28-spline, 1.218” diameter pinion gear, and uses common 1310 series U-joints (91048315). Machined relief cut provides for simple, bolt-on installation when used with an OEM standard or our Daytona-style pinion support (91048399) on your Ford 9-inch third member assembly.
Step up to a modern, easy-to-install and durable solution for your Ford 9-inch rebuild by choosing a Forged Pinion Yoke from Speedway Motors.

Nice Product
Sometimes these can be hard to find in the junkyard and often times they need an expensive sleeve on the seal side so knowing this I rarely go to the junkyard anymore I just get this and don't have to worry.

Maybe
This is a decent, low cost yoke but every one I have bought has had to be modified in 2 places. The tabs that center the u-joint in the saddles are either too thick, and put pressure on the joint binding it up, or the tabs are off center, positioning the joint off center of the yoke. Also, the internal splines are too long and bottom out on the spline on the pinion shaft, not allowing the yoke to preload the bearings. I use a burr on a die grinder and remove about 1/8" of the spline and it works fine. I also open up the tabs a little to keep them from binding the u-joint caps. We haven't had any problems on our car yet but may opt for a higher priced yoke next time that doesn't have these issues.

My old yoke got damaged when the driveshaft let loose. This is a perfect replacement to fix the leak that ensued after the driveshaft failure bent the old yoke.
