I bought the Smithy's to replace some mufflers that I had bought that were way too loud on my 54 Olds. The Smithy's gave me the exact sound I was looking for. However they leak along the seam. The right one is worse and you can actually hear a slight sputter. As long as Smithy's have been around and with the reputation they have I was very disappointed.

Mufflers come and mufflers go, but Smithy's glasspacks have been around for a couple of generations. They're simple, well-made, and they do a good job of reducing restriction in the exhaust system--free horsepower if there is such a thing. The tone also can't be beat--emphatic but not harsh. I have been using 26" Smithy's for several years now and recently ordered a pair of the 30" to use when I modify the exhaust this summer--the variety of lengths available gives the option of getting any sound level you want.

how much quieter are 30" smithy's then 22" smithy;s? I am changing the exhaust on my 51 Ford with a Flathead. I would still like to hear the radio and talk in the car. I now have cherry bomb on it and they have rusted out. Time to change
