Headers
These S/B Chevy tight fit headers fit difficult applications where space is limited. Shorty headers have a 1-1/2" primary with 2-1/2" collector. Complete with reducers, gaskets, and bolts.
For "round" port small block Chevy cylinder heads. Will NOT fit angled plug heads. This header will NOT clear the 'clam shell' style engine mount commonly used as the stock type engine mounts on 1973-up Chevy applications.
- Drivers side collector is 2" from pan rail
- Passenger side collector is 1/2" from pan rail
- Flange thickness is 0.212"
Pipe Extension
Using this kit makes the hook-up of your exhaust system a snap! The 2-1/2" diameter, 16-gauge, mandrel-bent tubes curve back at a 90° angle and are offset outward to clear the bellhousing and starter. They drop 10-1/2" from the header flange and they extend backward 17-1/2" after the 90 degree bend.
Just trim the length, weld on the 9/32" thick collector flange (included, with gaskets) and you're all set! Works great with any tight-fit headers.

The passenger side headder i could not be happier with, however the drivers side headder hits the motor mount quite hard due to the offset of the sbc heads.

I'm building a '29 Model A roadster with a mid-80's stock 305 SBC. Because of the position of the Vega steering box, I needed the tightest block hugger headers possible to clear it (I still had to cut away part of the collector flange). And, since the engine makes under 200 HP, I am using recommended 2" size exhaust on each side and feel that the 1.5" primary tubes on these headers is an added benefit for that set up. The build quality of these headers is very good, but I am waiting to see if the 1/4" thick flanges will give a good seal to the head. Next, there are the extension tubes. I ordered the complete kit (headers and extension tubes) without thinking through the performance issues I described above. When I held the extension tubes in position, it was clear that they were too large and might be too close to the fuel line and battery cable. And, after I thought through the situation, realized they could negatively affect the performance of the 305 engine. I did return the extension tubes to Speedway Motors.

Used in a sbc swap into a 41 ford sedan. The ONLY headers I've found that actually clear the steering box. Next time I will move the engine over to the passenger side an inch instead of centering it. But, this kit is great. The headpipes that come with the headers are really good quality, makes for an easy start to my diy exhaust on my rod. Straight flanges and the included gaskets haven't leaked yet, for the price that's pretty impressive! Would definitely buy again. I did have to open a hole up on each header, #8 and #7 cylinders but only took a second with a step bit. Very happy with this kit!
