The word on the street may be “LS swap” but we know that as popular as the LS swap has become, there are still way more small block Chevy and big block Chevy powered rides on the street and the track across the nation and literally around the world. A properly built and tuned Chevy V8 isn’t difficult to keep cool with the right size radiator, but what often becomes an issue when building a cooling system for a SBC or BBC is finding a fan shroud, electric fan, and the proper electrical bits to wire up the fan correctly. This is why we have designed an easy to install aluminum radiator shroud for our line of universal aluminum radiators for SBC and BBC engines and kitted them with everything you need for a successful stress free installation.

Maximum Heat Transfer with A Radiator Using Two Rows of 1-inch Core Tubes

Our aluminum single pass universal radiator provides plenty of surface area with its large 2.25-inch core thickness and 19-inch height. The two 1-inch wide coolant tubes and high-flow core fins ensure that the maximum heat transfer occurs to shed as much heat as possible from your cooling system before the coolant returns to the engine. Our universal radiators are furnace brazed for strength and a leak-free service life. You will not find any epoxy or crimped O-ring seals here! The radiator’s clean design, devoid of mounting brackets, means it can potentially fit just about any chassis or engine bay using factory or custom mounting brackets. We also offer both steel and aluminum universal brackets with rubber pads to aid in your installation.

The traditional SBC/BBC 1.5” driver side upper inlet, and 1.75” passenger side lower outlet sizes and locations mean your existing upper and lower radiator hoses will work, often with little to no trimming. Lastly, to maximize cooling potential, these radiators do not feature an internal automatic transmission fluid cooler. If you’re running an automatic, you’ll need an external cooler of some sort. Choose from 28-inch or 31-inch aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and shroud widths (measured outside tank-to-outside tank) to best suit your mounting location and cooling system needs.

A Direct Fitting Fan Shroud That Optimizes Airflow Through the Radiator Core

Designed as a direct fit to our universal small block and big block Chevy radiators, our matching aluminum fan shroud provides complete coverage of the entire radiator core surface area. This ensures all air pulled through the core by the electric cooling fans pass through the entire core and not just where the fans are mounted (which is common when you direct mount an electric fan without a shroud). The shroud is sized to match the radiator width chosen for complete coverage and attaches via the radiator’s top and bottom channels and the included stainless steel and zinc plated button head hardware with nylon lock nuts in the kit for secure mounting. The shroud, made from .063-inch thick 3003 H14 sheet aluminum, comes with offset mounting holes to mount the included 10-inch (for 28-inch radiators) or 12-inch (for 31-inch radiators) electric fans. There is ample radiator shroud surface area to add rubber cooling flaps if desired for highway speed cooling passthrough needs.

Modern Curved Blade Electric Cooling Fans for Maximum Airflow with Minimum Noise

Electric cooling fans are quite common on modern cars and for good reason. They free up horsepower, allow more compact packaging, and can be controlled to run only when necessary. These same benefits can be achieved in your classic truck, hot rod, or muscle car project using the 10-inch or 12-inch curved blade electric cooling fans used in this kit. The curved, or “S-blade” design of the fan means the fan can run at peak rpm for cooling with lower noise than a straight blade electric cooling fan. The depth, at just over 3-inches, means our fan and shroud assembly will fit in most places a standard belt driven fan will not, which is especially helpful for engine swaps or if you’re running a supercharger or turbocharger and need clearance at the front of your engine. These dual fans have a total airflow cfm of 1,600 (10-inch) to 2,200 (12-inch) through your radiator’s full core thanks to the included shroud, providing a great cooling solution.
