Inner tie rod extensions for Mustang II/Thunderbird-style steering racks. Includes boots and bands. These inner tie rod extensions fit between the inner shaft of the rack and the pivot where the tie rod attaches. It moves the pivot out to align with the pivot on the lower control arm or the imaginary line between the upper pivot and the lower control arm pivot. In doing so it leaves the tie rod in plane with the lower control arm and preserves correct steering geometry.
The manual version does NOT have the holes for roll pins and Loctite is recommended. The power version is similar to the OEM and has 3 holes and include drift or roll pins for retention.

Great Part
This is the part you need if you are installing a T-Bird rack on a street rod after market crossmember. (I used an A1 Cardone Part # 22-203F 1 pc. bushing) I installed this on a TCI crossmember on the left side only. It extends the pivot point 2 inches and maintains the correct geometry. Since you only need one you'll have one for your next project or go in with a friend and split the set up.

rack extenders installation
Removal of inner tierod from rack was extremely difficult and the literature provided instructed more intense drilling necessary to separate tie rod from rack before extensions could be installed. Why couldn't the rack that I ordered for my application be provided at Speedway intact such that the customer wouldn't need to build the rack myself instead of a kit. I'd expect many customers don't have the facilities to do this work.

Make sure you pay attention to the tie rod mount thread. This was correct for my manual rack, it was 14mm x 1.5 thread male on one side and 14mm x 1.5 female on opposite side. The picture on the site doesn't show it that way. The 1st set that I received was the larger thread with female threads on both sides

When I ordered the product the person needs to take note as what the product is being used for to make sure it fits for what it is intended for, also the person that is doing the packaging g should make sure that the parts are correct I had 2 frames that were the same plus I had to go and get 2 tiered ends that were of a later model to make it work.
